About me

Hi, I'm Laura.

Welcome to my blog, and thank you for spending some of your time to find out who I am and read my content.

I'm 50, born and bred in Tuscany, Italy, and have been living in the UK with my husband Giacomo since 2013. A few years ago I moved to Chawton, a quintessentially English  country village in the South Downs National Park. Chawton is renowned for being the place where Jane Austen lived happily the final years of her life and wrote most of her masterpieces, including Pride and Prejudice. Jane's house museum is a just a few hundred yards away from my cottage, and well-worth a visit.

My family has recently grown with the arrival of Lilibet, my beloved tuxedo cat.

One of my passions, which I share with my husband, is walking in the countryside. Giacomo and I walk regularly in the beautiful area where we live, and have completed three National Trails (Cotswolds Way, South Downs Way and Hadrian's Wall Path), walking 10 or 15 miles a day across some of England's most spectacular landscapes
.

My life-long dream? Walking The Via Francigena from Canterbury to Rome to ideally link the two countries I love and which I am a citizen of - the one where I was born and the one on my adoption.

The love for the English countryside is my other passion, and the main inspiration for this blog. I love discovering small villages where time seems to have stopped, enjoying a cream tea in a romantic village tea room where you expect to spot Miss Marple at any moment, walking muddy paths wearing my waxed jacket and rubber boots, eating a traditional Sunday Roast drowned in gravy in an old country pub, and, more generally, take picture of fairy-tale thatched cottages with their timeless charm.

This, and much more, is what the English countryside has to offer to those who know how to live, appreciate and love it, and is what I'm planning to describe in my videos and blogs.

If you already love the English countryside and culture, or are intrigued by a world casually discovered through a book or a TV series and want to know more or, more simply, are looking for inspiration for your next holiday in the UK - this channel is really the place for you!

Whatever the reason for visiting my blog, I hope you will find something interesting that can help you love the wonderful world of the English countryside as much as I do.
